  • Your admin left? As in the person who has admin credentials?

Does anyone else have admin credentials?

Do you run your own servers?

Do you have credentials to access the server/host?

You’ll need one of these to get in…..

Admin did the website in conjunction with outside vendor. Our site is hosted by Godaddy–I have been talking to them, but they refer me back to WordPress. I am the owner of site–so I do have access to host.
Thanks. Let me know if you have any ideas

When you say have access to host, do you mean you have a Godaddy membership, a member account, into which you can log in, and then you can manage technical information regarding the hosting account used by your blog ?

    If so : GOOD.

Do you know the username to log in as admin to your blog ?
Most likely, it should be “admin”.

From there on, it becomes a bit technical, but this is more scary than actually difficult.

And follow the information given in the “Through phpMyAdmin ” section.

Within your godaddy hosting account, you’ll need to find where you can use phpmyadmin to manage your databases (no idea, but all hosts allow you to do that).

Besides the resetting of the admin’s password, you will also have to update the EMAIL addy of the admin so that it belongs to YOU (or a trusted colleague of yours). Or else, the former admin will actually still have admin powers, he’ll be able to use the “lost password” feature of the blog and have a new password sent to his mailbox.

    There, it should work 🙂
