Ouch ! My provider just lost my “UPLOADS” folder !

    Hi,

    I’m quite new in WordPress, everything was wonderful… but I just encounter a problem now : I always have used the WordPress Upload functionnality to manage and send images in my articles. Everything was fine (creation of the thumbnail, etc…).
    But a few day ago my provider just lost all the “UPLOADS” folder incl all the content ! And I han no backup of this folder, and my provider has no backup also…

    So no I have all my wordpress blog that is working great…. except for all the image stuff !

    Si now I donnot know what would be the best way to correct this. I have about 60 articles, but at least 300 pics to correct…

    I can find the original uploaded files in my computer, but as there are renamed (upper case for the first letter, remove of some special character, etc…) it do not seems possible just to send all my files in the correct (07 / 08 / etc..) folders.

    Do you have any idea the way I have to follow to rearrange my articles ???

    You just learned two important lessons…
    1. You should always keep a back-up
    2. Your host is rubbish and you should find another one because they should know even better than you how important a back-up is.

    You are going to have to fix it the hard way. Look at the page (view the code) to see what image names there are and match the images you have to those manually.
