• Hello,

There is a guy with a site similar-in-content to my own. EVERY SINGLE TIME I write a new post, it appears on his site that very minute and I get the notification by way of a comment like so: […] post (POST TITLE) appeared first on (MY SITE) […]

Is there any way I can block this guy and/or his website?

    Thanks in advance.

You could try. If his site is pulling the content directly, you could block it’s IP address. If you’re on a VPS, use iptables. Otherwise, a plugin like WordFence could block by IP.

You will need to figure out what his sites IP Address is and use a security plugin to block bots from that IP address.

Hope this helps. If not tell us the url of the site in question so we can help you further.

Hello Gentlemen — thanks for your prompt responses.

    Here is a screen shot:

Is that the guy’s IP address? If so, how can I block him now?

    Regards!

From what I can tell, that does look like an ip address, yes.

You need the IP Address of the site that is reposting your content… that may be different from the IP address of the commenter that is listed in your screenshot.

The commenter is in fact the site that is reposting my content. And I’m guessing that’s his IP, is it not? How do I go about blocking him and/or the site bots?

That’s basically an automatic comment I get each time after I make a post since his site automatically reposts everything.

He could be posting the comment from a different server or computer thus the IP addresses would not be the same. Check his sites IP address using a tool like https://www.site24x7.com/ping-test.html and confirm if the IP address is the same as the one the comments are from.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Davood —

I checked on the site you suggested and confirmed that it is indeed his IP address. What can I do now in order to prevent him from being able to keep auto-reposting all my posts?

    Thanks in advance.

I am sincerely sorry for the delay in my reply. Actually, I thought I had replied a few days ago but apparently I had never clicked submit.

Now that you have confirmed that the IP addresses are the same you need to block that IP Address from accessing your site and the RSS feeds using a plugin or have your host do it on their end as @sterndata suggested using IPTables.

    Hope this helps.
