Hi there,
I’m a bit confused as we follow WordPress standards for i18n and all text in the plugin should be translatable:

That is exactly the problem. WordPress has a lot of so called languages but in fact a lot of them are dialects. German and Swiss German are in terms of writing 99% the same. In terms of speaking it is kind of a one way relation where Swiss people understand Germans but Germans do not understand Swiss German.
However, your plugin only supports GERMAN.
The solution for me was to change the language from “German – Schweiz (Du)” -> “German”.
I would suggest you tell your translators to review dialects IF they know them or at least know how they are related. With that knowlege you can copy paste your language settings for some “languages” and use the default english for all the others.

But that seems like just a general frustration with WordPress that you have? I’m not sure how I can change anything about that.
I’m just a solo developer. I do not have a team of translators that I can put on this, unfortunately. I had the fortune that someone decided to translate part of the plugin to German. I don’t even know who did this and only WordPress.org translators can approve those translations. That’s all out of my control.
As a plugin owner I feel like I’ve done my part by making sure to follow i18n standards so that other people can translate the plugin. Getting a 1 star rating because of that feels a bit unfair.

-> I do not know much about that standard. But ether WP got it wrong or the standard is just not good enough. How can someone do a standard for languages not carring about dialects? However this is another topic.

What I meant by our plugin following i18n standards is that we make sure to register all the text in our plugin using the functions that WordPress provides. Because of that the plugin can be fully translated through translate.wordpress.org which you can learn more about here: https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/tools/glotpress-translate-wordpress-org/
It also allows you to use a plugin like Loco Translate which we recommend in our own documentation: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/128-translating-text-in-the-plugin
Loco Translate actually allows you to copy a language and its translations to a different one, so you could use that to copy the German translations that are already there to the dialect you need.
