Original text image in header (Autofocus Theme)

I’m having problems formatting a small .png I’m trying to place in my autofocus header along with the original wordpress blog title text.

I photoshopped a composite of what I’m trying to get it to look like: http://walkstop.com/composite.jpg (the image is the color bar next to the navigation)

I’ve maganaged to get the file in the header between the title and navigation but it always gets resized to much larger than I need. Then when I change the margin and padding on it, it affects all my other post pictures too!
