 * Hi there,
 * I’m using the wordpress version 1.5 (it’s the newest IIRC).
 * First I wrote some pages, then I realized the problem, I could not allocate them
   to categories.
 * Then I changed to posts and I realized the new problem. I cannot order them.
 * So please experienced users tell me how can I write sth, allocate it to categories
   _and_ order it?
 * ATM additionally I don’t see the different between pages and posts but this mentioned(
   missed) features.
 * Thanks in advance.
 * Martin

 * 1. The newest is 1.5.2.
    2. [Pages](http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages) are different
   from posts – see the link. 3. Posts – as it is usual in a blog – are ordered
   chronologically, with the newest on the top. You can search for other ways of
   ordering them (there were several requests and solutions in the forum) 4. How
   do you want to “order” the posts?

 * You could use Pages and Child-Pages, allowing you to order the Parent-Pages how
   you like and have each Child-Page show within its parent when selected.
 * Doing it the above way basicly means that the Parent-Pages act as the categories
   and the Child-Pages act as Posts

 * Thank for your replies.
 * Sorry, I meant organize (arrange, manage), not order.
 * So to sum up you have the categories to organize the posts. You have parent-pages
   to organize the pages. You have other kind of categories to organize your links.
 * I cannot see the sense, but I am glad it is free and so I should not moan about
   it. I cannot see the reason, why (when?) should I use pages, when should I use
   posts?
 * Users may reply on posts _and_ pages. The link to the pages is not really an
   answer to my question, sorry.
 * Yours sincerely,
    Martin

 * 1. The link to [Pages](http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages) was just to clarify (
   for yourself) that Pages and posts are not the same.
    2. When to use Pages and
   when to use posts – it depends on the purpose of the blog/website. Initially
   the Pages feature was introduced in v1.5, after a lot of complaining by users
   during the earlier versions that they couldn’t create easily a so-called “static”
   page for inof like About me, Contact etc. 2a. Since v1.5 we have this feature
   and many people even put together website using exclusively Pages, for a non-
   journal, non-blog like website. 3. Posts are just the usual entries in a blog;
   I assume you would use them as everyone else: making entries about the main topic
   of your blog. 4. Depending on the theme’s design you can comment on Pages or
   not. My logic says: Pages are not for commenting (e.g. why should I let anybody
   to comment on my About page?)
 * It still isn’t clear what your problem is and what is your question.

 * Glad to be of help, Martin. And you don’t really _have_ to use WP in the way
   I explained above 🙂 That’s just a general idea of how most bloggers use it –
   but you can also find many, many different ways.
