# Orders automatically change to Processing

 * Could you please advise on why new orders are changing automatically to ‘Processing’?
   They are skipping the initial status.

 * The payment gateway typically controls setting order statuses. “Processing” generally
   means that an order has been paid for and is ready to be shipped. One exception
   to this is the Cash on Delivery (COD) gateway. Since it is shipped before the
   order is paid for, it goes to processing before payment.

 * Thank you for your help and for the link, happily the issue has been solved. 
   I don’t exactly know what has been done though as this time it was someone else
   that fixed it.
