# Ordering Posts

 * I have setup WP for a client to use to manage both their News and FAQs. I have
   made it so that only the News is displayed for the News page and the FAQs for
   the FAQ page.
 * All of the FAQs are broken up into categories like “Customer Service”, “Trouble
   Shooting”, etc, and I am able to display the FAQs based on which category they
   are in.
 * Since they are going to be building up the FAQs page over a few weeks, and will
   want to add more to this section in the future, there needs to be a way for them
   to basically have it they can modify the order of the questions, and have this
   reflected in how they are displayed.
 * Is there a plugin or simple way to modify the order in which the FAQs are displayed
   based on category?
 * Currently I have The Enhanced View Plugin installed, so that the client is able
   to sort all of the posts based on which category they are in, if that helps in
   finding a solution any quicker.

 * I would like to think that you could just edit the Time Stamp on this and that
   would make the change of the order. I could be wrong though and probably am 😉

 * Encrypt, that is the way that it ended up being handled, but WP is being used
   for more than just the FAQs. Also I’ve never had good results modifying the layout
   in WP, so to save myself a headache and my client some money, I wrote my own 
   code to display the FAQs, and didn’t bother messing with any of the WP code.

   I know there probably is a better way to do this, but it works.

 * I am sure there has to be a plugin out there that you could use for this. I’m
   not adept in building my own, but I am sure someone has something that you could
   use. Otherwise couldn’t you just hide the code that displays the date and then
   edit the timestamp to get the results you were looking for? But since you wrote
   your own code that works then you wouldn’t need to remove any of the code. That’s
   probably how I would have done it, since I’m more of a designer than a programmer.

 * I tried a plugin called custom query string [http://mattread.com/archives/2005/03/custom-query-string-plugin/](http://mattread.com/archives/2005/03/custom-query-string-plugin/).
   It would seem to do what you want but I haven’t got it to work yet.
