We have tried every single variant of uploading the images, clicking the toggle to reorder brings them in backwards so clicking again reverses the order but still we have images list as (1) (10) (100) etc etc rather than 1,2,3,4,5,6, this isnt useable this way as our galleries are specifically to be in the right order. Is there an issue or something we’re doing wrong. This is in the published galleries, in the unpublished gallery the listing is correct but once uploaded it is wrong.

    Hi,

    Thanks for posting your question.
Please note, that the ordering of Photo Gallery images by title works based on the following sequence:

    001
    002
    ...
    010
    011
    ...

Simply put, it looks at the first character of the titles, then the second, and so on. As a result, 10 and 100 come after 1, rather than 2.

Hope we have provided clear explanation. Let us know in case you have questions.
    Thanks! Have a great day!

mmm… ok if you can get windows to rename files like this without truncating and removing the zeros i’d love to know how – doesnt work im afraid so you plugin isnt really useable for specific ordering of images

    Hey,

You can add a letter just before the 0 and the image will be properly renamed. For instance: p001, p002, ... p010, ...

Please note, that you can also rename the images after uploading to Photo Gallery plugin. Simply click on Rename item button and set the necessary title, as in this video.

    Thanks! Have a good day!

npe that does NOT work – have you actually tried this yourself? this is the result
    test test p00001 (1).jpg
all that happens is that windows adds another digit in brackets that you gallery cant compute.

Hi and thanks for getting back, Ive got that bit no problem but you’ve skipped a step, you need us to rename all of our files but you don’t show how you got windows to rename your files p0001.jpg onwards

    Hi,

Here’s a video that shows how the images should be renamed. Click on this link to begin watching.

Also, please make sure the sorting in the folder is by Name and Ascending. Have a look at this screenshot.

    Thanks!

LOL!!! that is just genius you have made me laugh so hard today, you have literraly sent me a video of how to manually rename files in windows, thats total brilliance!!! listen whatever you do dont go into teaching, thats brilliant.
So we have galleries with anything from 2000 to 20,000 images, I reckon if we start now following your guide we should be done in about 90 years.

    brilliant!!!! totally brilliant.

I think we better close the ticket.

    Hi,

Please note, that Photo Gallery is only responsible for the ordering in the plugin, not how Windows works. We’re sorry for the misunderstanding, but the plugin provides a large variety of backend sorting options by:

    Date,
    Filename,
    Alt/Title,
    Description.

In addition, you can manually reorder the images using Drag&Drop and numerate functions. Please check this screenshot.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

You can bulk rename the images using this software:
    https://www.advancedrenamer.com/download

You can use different methods for the file titles, for example:
    <Inc Nr:001> for 001, 002, 003, … 010, …

    Hope that helps.

This reply has been edited so if you already read this then read again:
I have been having the same problem and FINALLY got it to work. I had to delete problem gallery and start over.
    1. Create gallery, but don’t enter the title to it yet. Select images.
    2. When they appear on the page (in the wrong order) then you can do next step
    3. Go up to File Name (asc) or whichever one you need. This is to the left of search bar. After you select it, a message will come up saying you can’t do this with a published gallery. Confusing, because you didn’t publish the gallery yet, it still doesn’t work, and you are afraid to hit publish.
    4. Title your gallery.
    4. Hit Publish and when it comes back they are finally in order.
    5. Then it’s done.

If you do this and titled your gallery first then when you choose file order then publish it goes blank.

Also I went into Photo Gallery Options and on General I used the “Order” setting, not filename or anything else. Not sure if this helps that or not.

I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out. Can’t manually sort 200+ pics any longer!!

    Hi,

We are sorry for the inconvenience you have faced.

Please note that you are right when writing a title and choosing file order and publishing, it goes blank. Our developers have checked and it is a bug. It will be fixed in our upcoming updates very soon.

    Thanks, have a nice day!
