    Hi all,

Most of the purchases coming in through my clients site are failing the first time around. The error message I get is:

    Could not retrieve order. OrderEndpoint.php:459

Now I know this deals with Paypal Payments and it has to do with CSS and javascript disabled browsers. I was wondering if there is a fix to this or a workaround I can try?

    Thanks

    Hello @l_tilford

this issue is most of the time caused by something blocking the JavaScript that should replace the WooCommerce button with our PayPal Smart button. When the WooCommerce button is used, the payment will fail with this error.

There is currently no other workaround available than correcting the thing that is affecting the JavaScript from performing its function.

In the near future we hope to resolve this issue completely with updates on the inner working of this button, but for now you should work on the items that are affecting our button in order to avoid this from happening.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi @joostvandevijver

Thank you for getting back with me. I will definitely keep my eye out on the updates that happen, but as to your recommendation. Any suggestions on where I should start?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello @l_tilford

If I was testing this, I would set up a staging site and start testing your checkout with sandbox account. Test the default situation, test with other browsers, test with different devices and OS, this just to find out what can trigger the error.

We are improving the failure notification, because I would expect this to be caused by older web browsers and possibly some older iPhones. Probably most of the cases are caused by customers that did not update their browser for some time.

The notifications will be improved on the next release (2.0.2) and we are still working on catching and fixing other causes of this issue for a future release.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
