Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway » Order status not set to failed

  • Resolved Johan Yourstone

    I’m using Stripe 4.0.5 and WooCommerce 3.3.1.

When a customer recently tried to pay with a card that was declined (code do_not_honor), the order status was never set to “Failed” in WooCommerce, instead it now has the status “Pending payment”.

Shouldn’t the status be set to “Failed” instantly for payments that actually fail?
The status logs doesn’t show anything in particular about this.

Edit: I received an e-mail right away that the order failed.

    Hi @jyourstone,

You’re right, if the customer credit card gets declined, the order status should change to Failed. If that’s not what happened, there could either be a delay in processing the notification from Stripe, or an error triggered somewhere on site that interrupted the standard checkout flow. The ‘fatal-errors’ log file in **WooCommerce > Status > Logs** is a good place to start troubleshooting in such case.

As far as I understand, you eventually did receive the message that the order was failed, so I’m marking this thread resolved for now. If you need help with anything else. feel free to start a new one.

    Hello @madeincosmos

As I said, there’s no log to indicate that something went wrong with the Stripe purchase.

And as I also said, I received an e-mail right away that an order failed, but the order status was never changed to “Failed”.

This is not resolved, please unmark it as that.
