It’s a known issue, not really a bug but something that should be implemented more clearly. Please follow this tread:

Hi,I’m running into the same/similar situation when testing payments through Molly with iDeal.
When I try failed (mislukt) the customer is resent to the webpage that states the order was succesfully received. There is no hint in the webshop to the customer that the payment failed. In the admin area the order status is ‘waiting for payment’.
When I try expired (verlopen) the customer sees the same webpage that everything went successfully. Here, there is no hint to the customer the payment was not succesfull and he/she would assume we’re processing the order. However, in the admin area the order status is cancelled.
Both scenario’s would be causing re-work and upset customers. Do you feel this implementation is going to be corrected anytime soon?

I’m considering a solution where the plugin always updates the title of that page and adds a message that is easier to find for customers (example in orange):
