    Hi,

Thank you for developing this great plug-in! It has been working well, but I’ve seen one interesting behavior and one potential issue.

    1) Interesting behavior: The order numbers are coming in with gaps, sometimes large, in the sequence of order numbers. The first sale was Order Number 1974, the second 1975, then jumped to 2127, then jumped to 2142, then jumped to 2153 sequentially through 2161, then jumped to 2179 through 2182, skipped to 2185 through 2187, jump to 2190, and it has continued, with sequences then jumps and skips.

    We started selling tickets 5/29.

We are selling tickets to the same event on two different forms, one English and one French. I originally started with just the English form, then added the French one several days later after we’d already had non-sequential orders. Expected to see a separate series of Order Numbers from each Form, but that didn’t happen. That is absolutely fine. In fact, sometimes the sales come in sequence and the only way I can tell which form is the description categories in English or French.

The skips don’t seem to correspond with date changes or anything obvious that I can tell. Thought it might be people filling out forms but not completing sales?

    2) Potential issue: I’ve had three or four orders come in with separate Order Numbers, but from the same email address and with the identical PayPal ID number, but at slightly different times, like a minute apart.

Early on, I thought that they might have been people who bought multiple tickets by clicking twice, rather than using the dropdown to select more than one ticket. Then there was a long period when this didn’t happen, but I got a couple more today.

Are these duplicate orders? I haven’t heard anything from the purchasers to indicate that this was a mistake or a problem; however, the orders go directly to my client’s Paypal account, not to me, although I would expect the buyers would email to the website if there was a problem and I would receive any such email.

The non-sequential numbering doesn’t cause any problem, but I’m a little concerned with the ‘separate numbers, same person, same PayPal transaction’ that we will have people with multiple tickets when they only wanted one and/or that I’m making inaccurate estimates of the number of tickets sold. Any light you can shed would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi @wpears,

Let me see if I can answer your questions:

    1. Yes, the order numbers skipping is perfectly normal. The plugin creates a hidden WordPress “post” for each order that is used to store the order details. If you or another plugin creates a page or post in between orders, then that will make the order numbers jump.

    2. For your other question, that does seem strange and I am not sure what it causing that. Please login to PayPal and do a order search using one of the customers email addresses. That should tell if you the order was actually placed twice or not.

    Thanks,
    Scott
