Support » Fixing WordPress » order confirmation errors…

  • I’m not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but I have a client who said woocommerce used to send out order confirmations to customers who placed orders and now “some” of them are not receiving any order confirmations in their email.

    How can I troubleshoot/fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hello!

There are multiple factors that can cause this, so it’s hard to spot.

The most common one is that the emails end up in Spam, and a lot of people don’t check the Spam folder.

Or something can be wrong with your web host’s emailing system.

Or they could be blocking some emails, especially when you’re in a shared environment and the emailing system is more strict.

I recommend checking this – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/email-faq/ and follow some of the steps pointed there.

I did check the EMAIL tab under Woocommerce > Settings and noticed that “customer invoice” is set to manually send? All the others are sent to auto-send except this one.

Here is a screenshot: Link to Screenshot

How do I set this up to auto-send for customer invoices? I’m thinking this is the problem.

That’s set like that by default, and you can’t switch it to auto. Think there are some plugins for that, but anyway, that’s not the issue, since the users don’t receive the confirmation emails, not the invoice emails.

Dig deeper into the issue by following the rest of the steps in that Woo article.

Also make some tests yourself. Create a 100% discount coupon for one of the products for testing purposes, and see if you receive the confirmation email after you “purchase” it. Check Spam / Junk too.

I don’t recommend it, since that article is from 2014 and Woo has been through many updates since then. You might do more harm than good. Also, invoices are one thing, confirmation mails are another thing.

Anyway, if you want to apply that code, make sure you backup the file first, in case something breaks.
