It only may happen for PayPal standard payment if you don’t enable IPN. Please follow the doc here to enable IPN:

But, we strongly recommend using PayPal smart button checkout. Please follow the following doc to set it up:

I marked this resolved too early. I’ve had more transactions get stuck as “processing” since enabling IPN per the instructions.
Can this be marked unresolved? I’m still having the problem after enabling IPN.
Hello, I’m still having this problem intermittently. I have tried both standard payments with IPN and smart button checkout. I’m currently using smart button checkout and it happened yesterday. The payment went through, but the order never changed from processing to completed in the download manager. From the user’s end they just saw a spinning wheel after they paid and weren’t taken to a new page. This has happened on Brave, Firefox and Chrome. It doesn’t happen every time, some orders go through fine.

Still having this problem. Now it’s with every order. Hopefully I can get some help or I’ll have to migrate to a new system. Thanks.
