    The home.php file is the one you’ll want to modify. Change the_content() to the_excerpt() and that should do the trick.

    Highly suggest you create a back up as well as a child theme if you haven’t.

    Thanks Jose, but I think this is a little beyond my current capability – any chance you could backtrack a bit and explain how to do these things?

    Here’s info on child themes:

    In the child theme, make a copy of the home.php file and make the change on that copy.

    That way your changes are not lost when the theme is updated.

    Thanks for the link. I’ve created a child theme.
    Do I create a new file called home.php or do I just copy, add and change the code in the style.css file?
    Also, just to make sure that I’m getting the right advice, the blog is not my home page so should I still change this file?
