Please create the option to respect the theme’s thumbnail size and real excerpt (length). There really is no use case to diverge from settings that are already available, thanks.

  • And respect Blog date notation (esp. when the plugin’s contruction messes w/ internationalization settings)

It uses the whole excerpt by default. And please explain what you mean by date notation.

I stand corrected: it does respect the_excerpt (but our editors do not, grrr). That leaves thumbnail image size and date formatting (set in General Options > Date notation)

Two ways to respect the thumbnail size is to create your own size in settings > Network Posts Ext > add image size with a custom name then add the following to the shortcode.

    thumbnail='true' size='aliasname'

Or you may wish to download the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/featured-image-from-url/ which allows you to put in the exact url to the specific thumbnail size.

    For example: https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/img-150x150.jpg

As far as the date goes are you saying it defaults to the use settings of Month Date Year instead of Date Month Year?

This fails with errors in the browser console. In my opinion it shouldn’t be needed, nor should it require even more plugins in order to make it work.

Same goes for overruling the plugin’s CSS; it would be great to have that as a switchable option.

Date formatting indeed defaults to m-d-y and furthermore the names of the months are not translatable as the plugin seems to use it’s own way of reading and rendering postdate.

    Following updates:

    Modifications list:
    1) date_format is made to load blog’s date format if date_format='settings'
    2) Every date is automatically localized
    3) The plugin loads active theme’s default thumbnail size if size=”parent theme”
    4) Created a setting whether to load plugin styles or not.
And there is one additional thing. “size” attribute value can be any registered size and not even one that is created with our plugin. size='h,w'

To manually control what the date format looks like use the following:

date_format – format of the post date “default n/j/Y”. This will show January 2 1963 for example. If you would like to show the date first just use: date_format='j/n/Y' so it would look like 2 January 1963. You can use the settings here: https://secure.php.net/manual/en/function.date.php to get the look you like.

The updated plugin will be ready in 48 hours.
