[resolved] Option to show the categories when insert images from categorized library? (22 posts)

    Hello,

I have another request, if I may?

Now it is posible to organize the library in categories, which is awesome!

However when we need to insert an image in a post or product catalogue, that has been uploaded before and categorized in our library with your plugin, these catagories dont show up?

Only the option to search for an image, but the categories are not there to use images from.

Is this something you might consider adding as well?

    Thx,
    Annie

I will look into it for the 1.4 release (which is probably after the holidays).

    Hi Jeffrey,

I installed your most recent update, but when I try to upload an image into a post or page and go to Upload media, there is still no sign of being able to sort by the categories?

Am I misssing something or doing something wrong?

    Thx,
    Annie

    Hi!

The plugin works great. I only miss one thing, similiar to Annie's concern: an ability to choose a category BEFORE I upload some files. Batch assigning is great but when I create next gallery with hundreds of pictures - it's missing the point and assigning them manually (even in groups) to a category is time consuming.

Is this possible and will it be available in next releases?

    Best regards,
    Chris

    Hi Annie,

The release of version 1.3.2 only has some minor improvements / new features.

Your requested feature to view the categories in the media upload will be in the 1.4 release. This release has some delay because besides my fulltime job and this plugin I'm now working on an other (temporary) project in my free time. With this other project I earn money (sadly I don't with the Media Library Categories plugin) so I had to temporary change my priorities. But I haven't forgotten your request.

@chris I have added your feature request for the 1.5 release

    Hi jeffrey,

    Thanks for your update.

I fully understand your situation and am fully aware of the fact that you put so much work without getting payd. You might consider making a premium version, I am guessing a lot of people will be interested in it!!

Goof luck with the other project and I look forward to the update when you are ready.

    Kind regards,
    Annie

Jeffrey, thank you very much! I'll wait patiently, we can live without it for now.

Your job situation reminds me my own so I understand You very well. I have my deepest respect to every developer and plugin author 'cos I know how much time it costs. Take Your time and plan wisely.

    Greetings from Poland!

Interesting plugin. Especially the way to use the bulk assignment.

I found another plugin Enhanced Media Library which is particularly good when adding images to a post or gallery.
This plugin is considering adding a function to do bulk changes.

Looks like both plugins are working on the same solution from different approaches.

Wondering which will be first ;-).

    Hi Jeffrey

    Your plugin is amazing.
I have same question than Annie. When adding the image to page or post it would be perfect if I can choose the category where the pictures are.
I mean if it will be in premium version of the plugin then I am also willing to pay for it. Your system is really simple and easy to use.

Thanks for all your hard work Jeffrey! I came on to ask for this feature and see that you are already working on it.

    Hi everyone,

I've made a premium version of my plugin which includes the possibility to select a category when inserting media / images in a post or page.

My premium plugin is located at:
    http://codecanyon.net/item/media-library-categories-premium/6691290?ref=jeffrey-wp

The free version located here at wordpress.org will still
receive updates (but won't have the feature to select categories when inserting media in a post).

    Hi Jeffrey,

Good news, I want to buy it!

I read the faq about licensing, but want to make sure I make the right choise.

Is the extended license ok if I use it for multiple websites for clients. Is this one year on updates or how does this work please?

    Thx,
    Annie

    Hi Annie,

The extended license is ok for multiple websites for clients. Updates are free for at least one year, but probably forever :-)

And thank you for buying the plugin.

Thank you for your hard work, what an improvement, especially with more then 3000 images to organise.

    Hi Jeffrey,

I am trying to install the premium but run into some problems?
When I upload the premium in dashboard it says it can not install because there are no valid plugins found.

I use the Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades plugin, so it should update the older free version without problems right?

I really need to keep the setting of the free one, I already created all the media categories with it, and would be al lot of work to recreate and assign all the 3000 images to them?

I did get the plugin out of the zip of codecanyon, in case you are wondering if I tried to upload the whole zip file.

Can you help me out please?

    Thx,
    Annie

    Hi Annie,

There are 2 folders in the zip of the premium version, one with documentation and one with the plugin.

Upload the one with the plugin to the ftp folder /wp-content/plugins/wp-media-library-categories/ of your site.

The settings of the free one will work in the premium one (it remembers the categories assigned).

    Hi Jeffrey,

I uploaded it as you told me to the folder, and now it was added to the plugins, had to activate it again and it works great!

It remembered all the previous categories and images too, super!

    Thx,
    Annie

    Hi Annie,

I don't have an official website, Facebook or Twitter for my plugin only this site and the website on CodeCanyon http://codecanyon.net/item/media-library-categories-premium/6691290?ref=jeffrey-wp

In ieder geval fijn dat je zo blij bent met de plugin en dat je hem eventueel zelfs nog wilt promoten (in English: I'm glad to see you're happy with the plugin).

    Hi Jeffrey!

So you are Dutch, nice haha :-)

I just liked, tweeted and google plussed ( is that even a verb haha )
    your plugin.

I advise you ( if I may ) to start using social media or website to get the most out of your skills!

Bedankt ik ben erg blij hiermee, maakt het WordPress gebeuren een heel stuk makkelijker!

    Succes,
    Annie
