[Resolved] Option to not generate ingredient links?

  • Hello,
I have another question / suggestion.

Would it be possible to have a settings option that suppressed generation of the ingredient links?

The reason I ask is that you end up with a lot of “dead” links if you don’t use the ingredient pages.

At present my wife just deletes the ingredients (from their list, not from the recipe) after adding a new recipe. Having it as an option (defaults to on) would be nice I think.

  • Well, it appears the option was there after all. Just found it now. Doh!

    Hi David,

The option is indeed available under General Settings. Might have to work on a better structure for some of the options.

Anyway: there shouldn’t actually be dead links. If you click on an ingredient it should take you to an automatically generated archive page which lists all recipes that use that ingredient.

I’m assuming you get a 404 error? In that case you should try flushing your permalinks. You can find some more information over here:

    Kind regards,

    Hi Brecht,
The links were not dead as such, just no content so of no real use to a visitor who clicked them. I didn’t notice the other recipe links on those pages possibly because I was checking and deleting the ingredients after each recipe was added.

I now understand what they are for. My wife still didn’t want to use them, but at least it makes sense to me now. Thanks for your help again.
