There is a direct command, what works:

    ?pmaction=newmessage&to=1

The number of the end is the id number of the user (author), who would get the message. The whole command look like this:

    http://www.yourpage.com/messages/?pmaction=newmessage&to=1

If that is linked the PM starts, and the adress would be filled with the number 1 user’s name.

Hello, I am looking for a way to include immediately under a post a link to the messaging functionality so I get it of the form “http://xxxxx.xx/my-inbox/?pmaction=newmessage&to=ID” whereby the ID is automatically completed with the ID of the author of an article. Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

Sir Gabriel seems to have answered the original question nicely, so I’m marking this as resolved. As for automatically generating the link with user ID, I don’t know of a way to do that without programming.

Just an update, this is possible by using a shortcode plugin and then using this link:

    http://www.url.com/my-inbox/?pmaction=newmessage&to=[content field="author" meta="ID"]

    Works as a charm.
