[resolved] Option to change calculation for # of comments ? (5 posts)

Is it possible to edit the way the Social plugin calculates the number of "replies" on a post? Currently, it includes every social reaction as a "reply" including facebook likes and Twitter retweets. I feel like this is somewhat disingenuous and I'd really like to change it so it only includes actual comments, meaning WordPress and facebook comments.

I thought I might try changing the code myself and suggesting this for a future version, but I decided the code is a little too involved for me, so I'm not going to try it without help. :-P

PS Love, love, LOVE this plugin.

I'm still REALLY hoping for a way to do this. For example, when looking at my home page, my most recent blog post says "35 comments" but that is UNTRUE. The post has nine comments (native + facebook + twitter) and the other 26 are simply facebook likes. I like having the likes show up on the page, but I don't want them calculated into the total number of comments on the post. Surely there is some way to change this?

If you'd like the plugin to work differently than it does, I would recommend making customizations to your copy, or customizing the output as is outlined in the README.

I mentioned in my original post that I'd thought of doing that, but it's too involved for me. I'm afraid if I tried it myself, I'd just break it. I'd be willing to give it a whirl if you pointed me in the right direction though. :) I'm always up for a challenge!

PS I'll read the README again and see if I can figure it out. The first time I read all the documentation was before I had this idea.
