    Hello,

When I try to optimize the Wordfence firewall, my site throws 500 errors. When I remove what Wordfence adds to the .htaccess file, my site doesn’t throw errors anymore.

    How might I resolve this?

    Thanks

    Hi @summit856,

Does the firewall show as optimized when you remove the .htaccess contents, or does it simply return to a working state with an unoptimized firewall?

If you could paste here what is added to .htaccess, and send us a copy of your diagnostics report to wftest @ wordfence . com, I should be able to help you out. You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

Note: For the fastest response time, please make sure and add any information or questions directly to this topic and not the email address above unless asked.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I’ve just found out this morning that this was a symptom of a larger issue that has now been resolved. I’ve been able to optimize the firewall now.

    Thanks!

@summit856 what was the solution for you? I’m having the same issue. 500 error after optimizing the firewall…

It’s a long story, but an incorrect php module was installed that broke the site. After reverting there were some lingering issues, this being one of them and and issue with the Litespeed Cache plugin. I think my issue was actually with the Litespeed cache plugin which was unable to find the object cache. After some trouble shooting I was able to get Litespeed Cache working again. Once this was working, I was able to optimize the Wordfence firewall.

@summit856 thanks for your answer. Oh damn. Trying to figure out what causes my 500 error
