I have been trying to figure out the right settings but no matter what I do if I check the box to optimize CSS the front page breaks and products do not work properly. My Google Page Test is ranking in the 20s on a good day. I have the create critical css enabled but just bad speed. I have tried every configuration and change. Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong with my settings?

the main Autoptimized CSS file seems to be missing in action, can you clear any/ all page caches you might have ?

I Just cleared the caches and it does not seem to make a difference (still getting the 404). Next steps?

I *think* you’ll have to disable the CDN on staging, as the CDN will only pull files from PROD, not STAGING and the optimized CSS file only exists on STAGING.

The problem originally occurred in my production site. If that was happening on my live site does your feedback apply? I had to disable the plugin completely on my production site and turned it on the staging just for troubleshooting. I am not sure what you mean by “and the optimized CSS file only exists on STAGING”.

If an Autoptimized file is missing (404) on production, then yes clearing page cache(s) fixes that.

The “and the optimized CSS file only exists on STAGING” means the file was created on the fly by Autoptimize on the STAGING, but because you’re using CDN that file could not be loaded because CDN points to PROD where the on-the-fly-created AO file does not exist.

That solved it! All the headache for a simple cache clear! Appreciate the direction and help. Now I know.
