I’ll look into it and let you know the best course of action.
Currently, the only way to optimize your WPPA+ gallery is to put the WPPA+ upload folder in the Folder to Optimize setting, and run Scan & Optimize on the Bulk Optimize page. To optimize any newly uploaded WPPA+ galleries/images, you’ll want to either enable Scheduled Optimization, or you’ll have to run the Scan & Optimize manually each time (it won’t re-optimize previous images unless you remove them from the ewwwio table).
I’ll do some further checking to see if it is possible to automatically optimize the images in the future.
sticking this as a feature request for now, unless I find out it isn’t possible to fully integrate with WPPA+
Quick update on this. WPPA does not use the wp_image_editor class for generating images AND it does not have any filters or hooks for outside developers to use.
So, to resolve this fully, I’ve added the WPPA uploads & source folders to the list of folders scanned by default with the Scan & Optimize and the Scheduled Optimize functions.
Too bad we can’t do more automatically, but that will be up to the WPPA devs to work on.
The WPPA devs have stepped up to the plate, so we’ll see what happens.
WPPA is adding an option to enable optimization of images, as well as a bulk/maintenance process to optimize previous images.
