• I want to use the excerpt in a sidebar but have the “Continue reading” link open in a new window because I don’t want users to wander away from the important page the sidebar appears on. Ideally, I’d like to see it appear in a popup, but maybe that’s too much to ask.

I’ve read the documentation and taken a look at things with Firebug, but I can’t see where/how to make this happen.

    Is there a way?

    Hey Chris!

There isn’t a way, currently, to do this in our plugin without some additional PHP. I bet, though, if you’re comfortable with it, we could create some PHP that would filter the Continue Reading link to open in a new window/tab.

Or, if you want to wait for our next update (I think we have a bug fix coming out today) this is simple enough that we may be able to squeeze it in.

    Best,
    Richard

My skills don’t include PHP, but if you could squeeze this in, it would be great. Even if you could direct me to the correct place to put the target=”_blank” into the current version it would work. I’m not sure how this works with a plugin… is there such a thing as a child plugin like a child theme?

Thanks for whatever you can do!
