opening and saving products too slow

I have disabled all Woo bloat but my products (which are just demos, one paragraph and no variations) are very slow at opening or saving (over a minute). Any tips (except the standard ones about site speed improvements) ?

That’s way longer than we would typically expect. Could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here.
That will give us some additional insight into the site to help see what could be causing this.

Thanks for sending that over. Nothing in the system report jumps out at me as the likely source of the problem.
Have you tried temporarily disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce and seeing if that speeds things up? If it doesn’t speed things up, it’s likely a server configuration issue. If it does make the site faster, then the problem is likely in a plugin or a combination of plugins on the site. You could try activating them one by one until you find the source of the problem.
Let us know what you find out.
Hello again. I have not found any plugin responsible for slowing Woo down but since you mention server config issue, could you specify better what I should look for, what I should tweak?

I just tried to load one of your products and it took me 10-20 seconds to load the page. Have you made the necessary changes to fix the loading problem?
The most amount of time was taken by a Google Maps script. I can see you have a Google Map related plugin “CMB2 Field Type: Google Maps: by Phil Wylie” which can be a good place to start your troubleshooting.
You can also use a caching plugin to reduce the loading time. However, make sure to follow WooCommerce’s caching plugin configuration guideline.
However, I think the loading speed I experienced is pretty normal and your visitors would not feel bad roaming around your site.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, can you confirm that with only WooCommerce and the Twenty Twenty theme active, all other plugins disabled, that editing isn’t faster?
There wasn’t anything in the server information from the system report that looks out of line to me. I don’t have any specific recommendations there.
If it’s still slow with only WooCommerce and 2020 active, then you might try installing the Query Monitor plugin and see if there are any slow queries when you go to edit a product.
Let us know what you find out.
we are on the same page and Woo+2020 makes editing speed normal, however on testing Querymonitor with the normal plugins+theme every product edit page becomes blank 🙁

That’s unexpected. When we see white pages like that, it often indicates there has been a fatal error on the site. Go to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and use the drop-down in the top right to load any fatal error logs from when you were using Query Monitor. Copy those and paste them here in your reply.

You might check with your web host and see if they have any server logs. Those could have the error messages we’re needing.
I can access my VPS and I see some Raw Apache/FTP Logs, but they show empty. What else should I look for?
Do you see any PHP logs? They would most likely have the error we’re looking for.
…in my home directory/logs I can see there are some .gz logs and one .php.error.log but it’s dated to December, so older than when I did the testing with QueryMonitor. Besides, it’s a file with over 500k lines of code. How can it be of any help? How can I forward it to you in case?
