What plan level do we need on OpenAI in order for this to work? Currently on the free plan, and it errors out every time with API quota exceeded. Is there a specific plan that this will work with, or do you just add credits? If credits, how do we determine the cost?

    Hello @webactive

Thanks for your question! The “API quota exceeded” error means that your OpenAI account has hit its usage limit, which usually happens when:

    • You’re on a free account and have already used up your initial trial credits (typically $5 USD).
    • Or you haven’t added a payment method to enable paid usage.

👉 You do not need a specific subscription plan (like ChatGPT Plus) for the plugin to work. All you need to do is:

    1. Log in at https://platform.openai.com.
    2. Go to the Billing section.
    3. Add a valid payment method (credit/debit card).
    4. (Optional) Add pre-paid credit via the “Add funds” option (usually a $5 minimum).

Once that’s done, your account will switch to pay-as-you-go, and the plugin will be able to access the API normally. OpenAI charges based on the number of tokens used (which are chunks of text). For example, GPT-3.5 currently costs around $0.002 per 1,000 tokens, making it very affordable.

You can also monitor your usage and spending at any time from the Usage section of the OpenAI dashboard.

    📌 In summary:

    • ✅ No special plan is required.
    • ✅ Just make sure your account has credits or an active payment method.
    • ✅ The plugin will work as long as you stay within your usage limits.

Let us know if you need help setting this up!
