Open Post In Div or Expanded Module

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a plugin or instructions to open post content on the same page as post lists in a div or module.

As an example, please look at http://www.beyonce.com.

On the frontpage, when you click an image, it opens a section with a smaller version of the image, title, date, share and post text. If you click the title within this new div/modul/whatever it is called (what I’m trying to figure out), it takes you to the theme’s actual post page.

This overall flow is what I’m trying to achieve. Any help is appreciated.
