Open License means?

  • i am wondering, i have forums for my debate team, i host it, i also want to have a blog software so we can keep each other upto date on our research etc. how does the licensing work? is it for “personal” only? or can i have it hosting 50 different blogs that are “owned” by different people?

    thank you

  • You can use it for business or personal – a 1,000 times if you want.

The GPL license basically says you can do anything you want with the software including sell it. As long as you always redistribute it under the GPL license.

    http://wordpress.org/about/

WordPress is an Open Source project, which means there are hundreds of people all over the world working on it. (More than most commercial platforms.) It also means you are free to use it for anything from your cat’s home page to a Fortune 5 web site without paying anyone a license fee.

It also means that because the source code is accessible and editable you can hack it to death. As many of us have.

What if I want to re-distribute the WordPress themes into my websites?
I mean, I picked around 100 best themes , put the its description, screenshots and Host it on my server for people to download.
And I would like to ADD a new line under the Designer’s credit sentence. For example:
On the “Building Dreams” theme footer, It has “Building Dreams theme by Isulong SEOph.” ,
I want to Add a new sentence like “Downloaded from MyDomain.com” afterwards.

    Is it allowed?

    Best Regards,
