Yes it is possible, you have to check option “redirect to file” in the right sidebar on edit page of the file.
You also can bulk check this option from the quick edit on the list page.

Hi Joffrey, I don’t see this option “redirect to file”.. perhaps I am in the wrong area.
Do you mean in the Media Library ?
Sorry I am still stuck on this, does this plugin allow to download in a new tab instead of direct?

The option you are seeking, and the option @agent3w is telling about ( BTW, @agent3w thank you for trying to help ) is found in the Download edit screen : go to Downloads-> Your download -> Download Options metabox -> Redirect to file.

did you already add downloads ?
There is something weird in your install, you don’t have “All downloads”, “Add”… in left menu.
1) Try to deactivate and reactivate the plugin.
2)Try to remove this plugin and install it again throw the WordPress plugins menu.
The option your are looking for is only within the download edit screen, not in settings options. This plugin works like this in order to allow users to select specific files to open in new tab and keep other files on standard download method.
If you can, try to access to the edit screen of one of your downloads files in the way suggested by @raldea89 : https://ibb.co/TWfy8nk
@raldea89 will help you more if you can’t access to edit screen.
I’m just a user like you 😉 and I like this plugin because it’s easy to use and customize templates.

@agent3w I tried uninstalling and deleting the plugin, then re-installing. But I still get the same plugin interface.

Just a difference with my install : auhtor plugin has changed to WP Chill for you and on official plugin page.
On github, author is still Never5.
I don’t understand what’s happening here.
We need an author or support team crew to take this on hand.
@nonemauro, if you need it hurry, I suggest to you 2 solutions :
1) Use plugin files installed on my website : https://we.tl/t-RygdXh7at5 (remove your current install and use the .zip I sent to you)
2) Change to another plugin : I tried “Download Manager” (https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/download-manager/) that is working well by less easy to use.
If you try with option 1 and are facing the same issue, it’s probably a conflict with another plugin, theme or maybe from server side…
@agent3w I tried installing your version through FTP, I get the same result. I also tried installing the developers plugin through FTP and still not working.
I may use your alternative plugin suggestion “Download Manager” if I cannot solve this problem soon.

I am sorry but I couldn’t respond faster, different time zones between us.
@agent3w the plugin was bought by WPChill, the repository’s ownership from github wasn’t changed yet, it should change today or in the next few days. And as always, thank you for your help 😀
@nonemauro could you please confirm that you don’t have any pages/posts with the download/downloads in name/permalink ? Also, can you be kind and install and activate Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and activate troubleshooting mode ( this will only be for your user, visitors will see the online version of your website ) and activate Download Monitor in troubleshooting mode? This way we can check if there are conflicts between Download Monitor and other plugins/theme. If everything is OK, please activate in troubleshooting mode the plugins, one by one, and find which one is conflicting with our plugin.
If you are unsure about this method and don’t have premium plugins/theme installed you can give me a list with them and I’ll try on a local installation to see where the conflict might be.

@raldea89 I’ve installed and activated the Trouble shooting plugin.
Then I activated the default Twenty Twenty WordPress theme, to determine if my theme was causing the issue.
As you can see in the screenshot, I only have 2 plugins enabled, and the Download Monitor plugin is still not showing properly in the backend of WordPress.

@nonemauro that is very very strange. Could you please let me know the following so I can try and recreate locally your environment:
– PHP version
– Server type ( Apache, Nginx etc. )
Also, can you please confirm that you do not have posts or pages named “Download”/”Downloads” ? And can you please go to “Settings->Permalinks” and just click save to flush them.

The PHP version is 7.4.16
The server type is Apache/2.4.6
I confirm that I have no pages or posts named “Download”/”Downloads”
I have flushed the permalinks.
@nonemauro – also you have full admin rights on your user account, right? Would you be willing to contact us on our site? It looks like this might require further investigation.
