I have read through some of the documents and help subjects, but I may have missed this somewhere.

Is it possible to have the image displayed in the gallery open the full sized image in a new page? My site offers free images, but when it opens the image, it takes one just to the large image, but not on a new tab.

I notice the gallery provides several options of “link to”, but I don’t want attachment pages, I just would like the image, when click on in the gallery, to load the full sized one in a new tab and not in a “page” or “attachment” or light box.

Sorry, if I missed that somewhere.

Otherwise, maybe just an option set up to “download full size” when the image is clicked?

PS – I like the gallery a great deal. I was hand coding my galleries which took a long time, so it’s saving me a great deal of time, although it slows the page load down a little, the nice thing is that it’s responsive, so to me the trade-off is worth it.

The resulting galleries are very nice. Thanks so much, I’ll be writing a review very soon.

    hello @graceys,

You can do what you need to by following the steps:

    1) Edit your FooGallery
    2) Choose “None” for your lightbox
    3) Hover over each attachment and click the “i” icon. Then when the image info loads, set your “FooGallery Custom Target” to be “New Tab (_blank)”

That in theory should open your images in a new tab. However, I have seen some themes that still “hard code” a lightbox and will take over to show the image in a lightbox.

The only problem with the above solution, is that you need to set the target on each attachment, so this could become tedious if you have lots of images. I will add a new metabox to the gallery edit page that allows you to set a default target at the gallery level.

    Thanks for using FooGallery!

Oh – so simple and I couldn’t figure it out. I had already set it to “no lightbox” and thankfully, my theme does follow that instruction, so I’m hopeful your instructions will work.

Thanks so much for that information!

    You made my morning 🙂
