    Hi,

i’m using the free plugin version of yoast seo. With the social function of the plugin I added an open graph picture to the startpage and also tried some other pages, but when sharing the site on facebook the picture is not shown. For example for startpage there are other pictures used.

Do you have any idea, why it don’t work?

If you’ve updated your social settings or metadata for an article and aren’t getting the right details in Facebook yet, you might need to force update Facebook’s cache of that page.

You can refer to this article on how to use the Facebook Sharing Debugger Tool — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/facebook-sharing-updated-details/

Just a note – on my installation
the update stripped the Facebook OG app ID
fromYoast Social settings – assume when I
add it open graph images will be there again in FB

We checked on the homepage of startup.tirol and do see that the og:image is being output as https://www.startup.tirol/wp-content/uploads/Werkst%C3%A4tte-Wattens-FB-1.jpg. If you are seeing unexpected behavior or appearance for one of your site’s social previews when sharing it on social media, this can be caused by the social media site caching old metadata for that page.

To resolve this, we would first recommend to try checking your page’s link using Facebook’s Sharing Debugger tool located at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/. Can you please try running the Facebook Sharing Debugger on the page you are experiencing the issue on, and under ‘When and how we last scraped the URL’ clicking the ‘Scrape Again’ option and letting us know whether this resolves the issue? The ‘Scrape Again’ option will force Facebook to update it’s cache for your page’s link.

Please note that to successfully update the cache it may require re-scraping your page several times as whether the page’s data can be read may take several requests between Facebook and the server your website is hosted on. Also, this guide includes more information on this and explains in detail how to do this: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/facebook-sharing-updated-details/
