Support » Fixing WordPress » Open external button in new tab

  • Hello support:

    This is not an issue related to the theme or plugins.

    It belongs to the way WordPress renders and understand an external javascript that embeds and renders an external form:

    <form name="search" id="search" action="" method="GET" target="_top" data-form-state="0">

    Target is: target=”_top”

    I need a method to change the target to _blank from within WordPress, as I have no way to alter the code of the javascript.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • WordPress doesn’t ‘render or understand’ external JavaScript that renders an external form. That is all handled by the browser and the script itself.

    Not only that, but in your specific example the resulting embedded form is within an iframe, so you won’t even be able to change the attribute after it has loaded with JavaScript.

    So I’m afraid it’s not possible to do what you require from WordPress. You will need to contact Sirvoy to see what your options are.
