    Hey guys,

Im loving Easy Fancybox, I just have a quick question.

    On my page here blupace
I run food galleries that open in easy fancybox.

I would like to click on an image and instead of opening the standard linked image in EasyFancybox, I would like to open an alternative image.

The idea is to open a double spread of the thumbnail image in easyfancy box.

    Kind regards,

And keep up the super work…

    Pace

Hi Pace, nice to hear you’re having fun with the plugin 🙂

First, to explain what FancyBox does: it takes the href of the link and opens that in a “modal” window. It does not care about the thumnail image that is used for the link anchor. The link can even be just plain text.

This means that what you are looking for is possible, at least in simple cases like this: Open your page for editing and choose Add Media to insert an image into your page content. Choose the desired thumbnail image, select thumbnail size and set the option “Link to:” to “Custom URL”. Then type (or paste) into the link URL field the full address of another image (full size version). Then hit Insert.

The result is one thumbnail that opens up another image in FancyBox.

The problem comes when you want to do this in combination with a Gallery. For example, the normal WordPress gallery automatically assigns the linked full size version of each thumbnail. This makes it impossible to link one thumbnail to another image…

But I notice you are using FooGallery, correct? Does that gallery allow you to link images to a “Custom URL”? If so, then you should be able to manually assign different full size images to the thumbnails in the gallery.

    Hey RavanH,

Thanks for your feedback, I have it working, albeit while not using foo gallery, I just used your advice and took a manual approach… the gallery is starting to look cool… thanks again… and keep up the awesome work!
