• I made some changes to the menu structure of this site. I first created the new menu, then switched to it as the one to use. I didn’t try altering the active menu. Around then the Home page stopped working with the error message in the title. All other pages appear to work properly.

I created a test page which I set up as Home page with the same result. I have tried other existing pages as Home Page without success. If I set up the Shop page also as Home Page it appears to work. That’s how I have left it for the moment.

I have checked Settings General, Reading and Permalinks, and they all look OK.

According to the IONOS (Hosting company) Website checker, the site cannot be loaded, which I assume is related.

I’ve been through previous Forum questions on the issue and tried most of the suggestions but nothing has worked. One makes reference to a corrupted index.php file, but that’s when I reach my limit. I’m not a web developer, just an artist trying to build his own site.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Forgot to add – I have cleared the browser cache to no effect. I didn’t think it would work, because I have the same problem on my phone with Chrome. Laptop browser is Firefox, latest update. Windows 10.

Update – Checking back from IONOS to index.php, when set with temporary home page works fine. With the original, I get the error message. This is via a utility on the hostig site to check traffic to different pages of my site. Suggests to me that index.php is somehow broken, but I haven’t a clue if it is…

    Hi there!
That’s odd. Could you please paste here https://pastebin.com the content of the index.php file and share the link?
Also, if possible, the .htaccess file in a separate pastebin.com might be useful.

At this moment, I see the site loading OK:

    Thanks!

It is currently working because I have set the Shop page also as Home Page in order to have a working site. Nothing else works. As I said, I’m not a web developer, so I have literally no idea where to find these files. I’ve looked on the hosting site without success.

I take it no one has an answer, but I’m boosting this just in case. I’ve looked on the IONOS web pages and don’t have access to the installation files unless I switch to maintaining the site myself. At the moment, all the WP updates are handled automatically, and I only have to manage plugins. If I switch, I can’t switch back. Looks like I’m stuck.

All the signs now point to index.php being the culprit.
