Tried all the suggestions from the documentation and still no clue what is causing the something went wrong in the mailchimp sign up form on my site. I finally found the resolution in selecting the list I want my subscribers to go to had to be the second list option. Not sure why the first list option wouldn’t work and gave me errors though as it looks to be set up in mailchimp the exact same. Thoughts?

As described on https://kb.mc4wp.com/fix-the-oops-something-went-wrong-error/ the first step in debugging this issue is to look in the log on MailChimp for Wp > Other page.
The error there should indicate what actually went wrong. In this case I bet it was a field that is marked as required in the list you first had selected, but the field was not added to the form, but it could be other things as well.

Please post the full error message from the log on MailChimp for WP > Other is you need more help with this.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Thanks I checked and that required field setting was not the issue. It works fine for the second list just not the first, but both look identical in the backend as far as form fields. Only thing required is email and that is included on the website form field. The error log just says API Authentication error 404..but we are connected to the correct API and it says connected in green. As long as the new lists all work I’m fine with the solution, but moreso just curious. Form 331 > Mailchimp API error: 401 Unauthorized. API Key Invalid. API key has been disabled

    Hmm, strange error though!!

I recommend creating a new API key in your MailChimp account and making sure that the new API key has full access by creating the API key with a user that has full access.

After putting the new API key please go to MailChimp for WP > MailChimp page and click “Renew MailChimp Lists”.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Same problem here, renewing the key doesn’t work either.
