Hi, I just realized that I can’t get into my backend.
I get the following error: “Only whitelisted IP’s can access this page”.
I have been reading through the forum and I have seen that there is an option to create that whitelist through .htaccess but I have entered the file manager and I have not created any .htaccess in my directories.

Anyone could help me? Thank you.

PS. Sorry for my English. I´m Spanish.

  • The .htaccess file you need to check is in the root directory, where you will also find the /wp-content/ and /wp-admin/ directories. Note: filenames that start with . are often hidden by the file manager, so you have to select the option to show hidden files. If you find the file, then post the contents here.

Hi, I found it that way. Thank you! However it doesn`t have anything about whitelisted IP’s

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks

    It could be plugin related.

In the file manager, rename the /plugins/ directory to /plugins-hold/, which will disable all plugins. If you can then login, rename the directory back to /plugins/, and then activate one plugin, log out, and try and log back in. Repeat until your find the plugin that is causing the issue.

Hi, I’ve just tried but got the same error: Only whitelisted IP’s can access this page.

    Thanks.

Upload the WordPress Twenty-Twenty theme to your /themes/ directory, and rename your current theme in the directory to {name-of theme}-hold. This will force the Twenty-Twenty theme to be used.

If that doesn’t help then you should contact your host, explaining the issue and the steps you have taken to troubleshoot. This IP restriction may be on the server-side.

Thank you very much, I have contacted the host and they told me they have limited access to the backend because there is an attack on my website. Let’s see if I can solve it with them.
Thank you very much for all the help.

No problem at all. I’m glad to hear you have found the cause of that IP restriction.
