    Hi

the option called “Only registered or approved members can view BuddyPress/bbPress pages (Private Network)” seems to be working improperly. If I register a “test” account and activate it via e-mail link I can see all the forums even though account is not approved in “member requests”. Yes, there are no “create topic” buttons, etc.. , but I thought it should block the access to all the groups and forums before the account is completely approved. Is there something wrong or it is supposed to be working like this?

Thanks in advance for your reply/help.

How far in to the forums are you able to go? I think there is a case where the parent root is still visible, at least at the moment, but they’re not able to descend any further into the different areas.

No, I can read all the threads with no limits (have just double-checked). I see all the groups, members profiles, etc.. When I open user profiles the system says “Your membership account is awaiting approval by the site administrator. You will not be able to fully interact with the social aspects of this website until your account is approved. Once approved or denied you will receive an email notice.” but shows all the profile information, friend list, etc..

I have thought, maybe it makes sense to send the e-mail activation code only when the user is approved?

What version are you on? Just to be certain. Not quite sure why it’s happening with your site. I figure if it was a widepsread issue, I’d be seeing more reports of issues.

    WordPress – Version 4.2.2
BP Registration Options – Version 4.2.6
    BuddyPress – Version 2.3.2.1
    bbPress – Version 2.5.7

shortly speaking all the fresh ones

But the thing is that I updated the system and plugins to those versions, not installed everything from scratch. Maybe that’s the issue?

What is actually technically happening when you switch that option on? maybe I could trace it somehow…

It’s checking the option to check if it should be checking the user meta I assign upon user-creation and then checks the value of that user meta. So it’s very user-meta based, but the redirects that should be in place are based on the is_buddypress() and is_bbpress() functions. Sort of two-pronged.
