EDIT: I resolved this myself! The answer is yes, you can delete your old posts after enabling the redirection. You don’t even need the old posts to exist for it to redirect since it’s a 301 redirect that’s placed in the htaccess file!

    Original question:
Redirection works great! Since I moved only two Posts from one blog to a new blog, I used this plugin for those two posts, and it works perfectly.

My question is this… Can I now delete those posts from the original blog?

    For example:
    Old URL: https://willcoquillette.com/google-fiber-with-fortigate-90d/
    New URL: https://homelab.city/google-fiber-with-fortigate-90d/

Can I safely delete the “Google Fiber…” Post from the original blog?

I will maintain both blogs, but I want the Google Fiber posts only to be on the new blog. This is a very popular post that is high up when searching on Google, but I can’t use the Google Search Console to change the search results because I’m not moving the entire domain.

I’d like to permanently remove the blog entries from willcoquillette.com but let willcoquillette.com continue to forward the URLs for the deleted posts to homelab.city.

So can I delete the posts?
