This is such a strange plugin.

I set it up as follows:

    1) Click on “Admin” in your Google Analytics account menubar
In the right-most column (“View”), click on “Goals”

    2) Click on the “+ New Goal” button

    3) Set the Goal description

You suggest to call it Contact Forms.

Others on support-threads recommend Contact Form 7.

I tried both, but nothing works.

I also tried giving the goal the name of my form. Doesn’t work either. What the )*@&@)(*#_)#!?!

    4) Choose the “Event” radio button and click “Continue”

    5) Set the Goal details

    6) Set “Category Equals to Contact Form”

Doesn’t work, no matter what I name my goal/event.

    7) Set “Action Equals to ” and enter the event you wish to track (see above for a list of events)

Should we rename the event if we change the ‘send’ button, or is the event always ‘Sent’? Is it with capital S? More information needed. Plugin doesn’t work!

    8) Optionally add a label if you want to define a goal for one specific form
    Click the “Save” button

    Obviously done.

.JS loads fine, plugin shows live events.

Plugin doesn’t show any completed events on GA, whilst they are completed *and* show up in live events.

    What is going on here?!

    Hello

I am experiencing the exact same thing. Live events show up fine, but nothing shows up under completed events in GA.

When you’re asking for free help with a free plugin that works with another free plugin and a free service, I’d recommend being just a bit more friendly—it would help your cause.

#3: it doesn’t matter what you call the name of the goal…it’s for your reference only.

#6: here’s where you need to set the category = “Contact Form 7” (my instructions were out of date and I just updated them).

#7: look at the “What events will be shown?” FAQ item for a list of the events that will show up. It doesn’t matter what your submit button label is, and I don’t believe case sensitivity matters, though I could be wrong about that—but that would be on Google’s end, not mine.

Plugin doesn’t show any completed events on GA, whilst they are completed *and* show up in live events.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. Live events show up fine, but nothing shows up under completed events in GA.

I’m not sure about this…it’s the first time I’ve heard of this behavior. Double-check the dates you have selected in the completed events screen…beyond that, I’m not sure. If it’s showing up in live, then my plugin is sending data correctly and it’s something about the GA view.

Hi macbookandrew, you were absolutely right. It just took a day to populate. Now all of yesterdays events show up fine 🙂 Such great little helper your plugin, thank you so much!

    Thanks—glad it’s working for you!

This was my same issue and glad I found this post.

Was doing troubleshooting and was pulling my hair out when I realized that GA’s default for reporting is 7 days up to yesterday. Changed to today and voila, they all showed up…

Plugin works like a charm (other than my absentmindedness), thanks for the great work!
