Everything was running fine on the site I just published last night, but I wanted to edit the primary widget (removing the ‘search’ box) and add a secondary widget of text. All done fine and went smoothly and shows up in my browswer of choice: Chrome. But when I check in IE or FF, the edits were not made and the secondary widget is not showing up. I even rebooted my PC. Anybody??

    Thank you!!

  • Force a proper refresh by pressing CTRL+ F5. Else clear the cache from both browsers and try again.

It’s not my browsers because my friend tried it on a remote computer and also does not see my updates.
Another suggestion?? I appreciate the help!

Try flushing the cache on your caching plugin.

Thank you esmi. How do I do that? I have WP Super Cache, which apparently came pre-loaded because I did not add it on. I’m trying to deactivate it but it’s not letting me.
    This is the warning:
Warning: unlink(/usr/www/users/croper56/ahomeformyhorse/wp-content/advanced-cache.php) [function.unlink]: Permission denied in /usr/www/users/croper56/ahomeformyhorse/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/wp-cache.php on line 109
But I can’t find this file.
    How do I ‘flush’ it?

Did you install WordPress? The only plugins that are shipped with WordPress are Akismet and Hello Dolly. Every other plugin else has to be installed by a site admin.

    Have a look at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/faq/

crap. I just cleared the cache, and now every browser thinks my website is a winzip file. What the heck??

I’d suggest contacting your hosts about this in case it’s an issue on their server.

Just got this straightened out. Under WP Super Cache settings, I needed to un-check “Compress pages so they’re served more quickly to visitors” and it came right back up with my edits/updates.

Thank you everyone for your input. Appreciate it.

Glad the hear that you’re back up and running again. 🙂
