I am using your plugin along with Buddypress. As the admin I am able to upload and do everything that I need to, but when I create an author account to test the features, it will allow the author to post, but if I try to upload an image to the post I get the following error:

An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.

This happens invariably, and it also effects the upload of media through the Buddypress timeline as well, though, it doesn’t take away the functionality of the upload to Mediapress.

I have tested this by changing the author account to an admin account, and sure enough, everything works flawlessly.

I have searched to try to find a solution but nothing I have seen will resolve the problem. I purchased the buddypress theme I am using, otherwise, I would be willing to test another membership plugin like Ultimate Member…but it feels like I have too much invested in this site currently.

    So again:

–user level author can post with no issues
–user level author is unable to upload any media through the frontend editor
–user level author is unable to upload any media through the activities page if Writeshare plugin is activated

I feel it’s a permission error or a “post id” error perhaps, but I can’t begin to imagine how to fix it. I have tried plugins that change the permissions and allowed EVERY permission I could pertaining to uploads to the Author profile, but nothing changes.

Thank you in advance! I REALLY want to use this plugin because of the way it organizes the written works but obviously, I need my authors to be able to upload media.

Wanted to add the issue persists no matter what theme I use, and I have deactivated all of the buddypress related plugins and the issue is still there. I’ve changed the theme with those plugins deactivated as well and it still happens. I can’t for the life of me figure out what the issue is.

Sorry to post so many parts–just updating here as I try new things. Strangely, I tried to set my trial user to “Editor” instead of “Author” in thinking perhaps it was an issue related to that and it caused more issues, but different ones. Cleared the cookies and cache, logged in, and when I tried to access

    http//mysite.com/write/

    it did this:

    http://mysite.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=profile%2F

and sent me to log back in.

It basically puts me into a repeat loop over and over again.

Then if I try to access the profile page here:

    http://mysite.com/profile/

    it is giving me a

404 – Oops! That page can’t be found on the Editor role.

Editor is able to add media through the dashboard.

It all works fine as an admin.

AND it works fine as the author! I can not even begin to understand what is happening here lol

    So to recap:

–user level author can post with no issues
–user level author is unable to upload any media through the frontend editor
–user level author is unable to upload any media through the activities page if Writeshare plugin is activated

-user level Editor can not access profile as it returns a 404 error
-user level Editor can not access the writing page as it returns a login loop
-user level Editor can upload media through the admin dashboard

-user level admin has no issues at all with accessing any pages or using front end publishing

Changing the theme and uninstalling Buddypress and other dependent plugins does not stop the issue.

Well, I did another install of WP onto my server, in a new directory and only put in the Writeshare plugin, no new theme, no other plugin activated, and the same issue is present.

    Exactly the same as above,

same with the user author not being able to upload media

same with the user editor not having any profile or access to the /write/

same with the admin being able to do everything

    I’m so confused.

I had an empty domain so I installed wordpress, only put the writeshare plugin on it, with no other plugins and with the default theme, and created the author user and the same issue presented on a different domain. Just troubleshooting here.
