Online Vault Backup Failed Prior to WP 3.5 Upgrade

  • As Per Driskell’s instructions I am re-posting as I experienced this problem several times even before the upgrade.

    I am having a similar problem but with the vault:

    Activity ID: 11
    Activity Type: Manual Backup
    Settings: Sent to Online Vault

    Completion: Failed

    Backup Size: 0 B (0 files)
    Total Size: 0 B (0 files)

    Start Time: 13th Dec 2012 10.03.49 PM
    End Time: 13th Dec 2012 10.03.53 PM

    Time Type Event
    Time Type Event
    13th Dec 2012 10.03.53 PM Error The backup failed: The server returned the following error message: The username and password combination specified was not found on our records.
    13th Dec 2012 10.03.53 PM Error A transmission operation failed.
    If the following error message is not clear as to the problem and the issue persists, please contact support providing the complete event log for the activity. Diagnostic information follows:

    I know why my User name and Password is correct because I can log into the website https://wordpress.backup-technology.com/

    Anyone with any thoughts it would be appreciated.

    Hi Panyanwu,

    Did you go to Online Backup Settings and Logout and then Login again? Does the error still happen after you do this?

    Please also ensure you are using 2.2.15 latest version and try the above, if you are using older version. You don’t have to, but it will make it easier for me to help.

    Hi Drikell,

    I did as you suggested and thank you. Instead of getting the “username and password” fail message the backup continued. Now have have a file size issue.

    I have attached a link to the Event Log. If you could please take a look and give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi panyanwu,

    You will need to exclude some items to bring the size down to less than 100MB. You could email support “at” backup-technology.co.uk with your username and they might be able to increase the quota to something like 300MB or 400MB but you’ll probably still need to exclude a few things.

    In General Settings there is filesystem excludes you can type some paths in to exclude if you know you don’t need them.

    Let me make sure I understand correctly.
    The “general settings” option you’re referring to is on the “Backup” main menu bar?
    Also, if I request to increase the quota is there an additional charge for doing that?

    Hi Panyanwu,

    Yes, on the Tools -> Online Backup screen, along the top is “General Settings”.

    We don’t have any paid services so there is no charge. The increase is discretionary though so I cannot guarantee it but normally we allow.
