Support » Theme: Astra » One of the TOP Five Best Themes

  • Amazing Theme, Easy to Use, Fully Featured, Fast, and great Support. Only need some additional Speed Optimizations to make it even Faster and then Astra will enter in My Top Three List of the Best Themes I have ever used:

    1. REHub from sizam
    2. Newspaper from tagDiv
    3. GeneratePress from Tom Usborne

    4. Astra from BrainStorm Force(Waiting to Disrupt in my Top Three List once the additional Speed Optimizations have been made)

Honorific Mention: “The Ark” from Freshface(Is Modern, Extremely Flexible, Fully Featured, and has a lot of potential, but it is a little slow, they have to improve the performance)

Keep up the amazing work, Astra Team, your Theme is Truly one of the Best.

  • Thank you for the ratings and a wonderful feedback @acura !

We are glad that you love the theme already and are looking forward to add it in your favorite list of themes. Just to let you know, Astra is already fast and we are striving to make it even faster. 🙂

You can always contact us through our support center and share your feedback and ideas. We’d love to hear from you.

Hi Astra Team, I’m glad that You like my little review, and Yes, I know that Astra is currently Fast because I have made some Performance Tests, but I’m sure that you can make it even Faster. I have updated my review above, making it clear that currently Astra is a Fast Theme.

I already sent my feedback and my “Performance Test Results where I compared Astra vs GeneratePress” to Nick. One thing that I forgot to mention to Nick in my feedback was that Would be Awesome if You can add lazy loading in Astra(Like an optional setting, so that the user can Activate or Deactivate it), similar to the Lazy Loading implementation in “Newspaper from tagDiv”.

For example, in “Newspaper” due in part to the nature of the Theme(like any Fully Featured News and Magazine Theme with All the Bells and Whistles) they have to deal with between 90-130 requests, 2-4 MB in size, and 5s-8s to load each page in the Front-End, however the “Perceived Speed” by the website visitors is amazing. So how the guys from the “tagDiv” Team achieve this Amazing Speed Perception while the Theme is doing so many requests and have a Total Load Time between 5-8 seconds ?
Well, their Theme is Heavily Optimized to Achieve The Lowest possible “Start Render” time and the Best possible “Speed Index” Score so that the website visitors will never perceive the Full 5-8 seconds, instead the visitors perceive that the Web Page Load Really Fast and easily under 1 second, obviously if the Theme is installed in a Fast Hosting.

I mention Newspaper only because I think that if You focus a little more in direction to the “Perceived Speed” like them, You could make Astra the Fastest Theme, and that would be Awesome 🙂

Currently the “Speed Perception” and its related performance metrics in Astra are very good, making Astra a Fast Theme, but there is room for improvements and more optimizations.

Below some great articles about the “Critical Rendering Path”, “Lazy Loading”, “Start Render”, “Speed Index”, and some Tips to improve them. I’m sure that Nick really knows his stuff, but maybe learn one or two new tricks in these articles 🙂
