• This is very odd. One of my readers in Ireland can no longer get to my blog. She could before but now she gets a “Cannot open page” message when she tries. Can anyone help me with this? Could it be her browser? Has my site blocked access to her somehow? I can’t find another thread with a problem like this. Has it happened to anyone else?

Thank you to anyone who can help me clear this up. We’ve become good email friends but she can’t get to my blog. I’m not sure if it’s affecting other readers too. Most of my other regulars get through but this has been going on for her access for a wee while.

  • Is this error a borwser error or is it wrapped around the wordpress theme?

    Can she ping your site?

Thanks for responding drmike. She says that multiple browsers won’t let her in. I don’t know if the error is to do with the theme but she used to be able to get in without a problem and other people still can.

    I’ll ask her about pinging.

Please don’t explode in bewilderment when I ask: how will I know if I’ve been pinged? I’m a bit of a hopeless Luddite, me. But I’m willing to learn.

Thanks again. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to help.

You can use ping to find out if you can ‘see’ another computer across a network or the internet.

From a command line prompt by typing:

    ping xx.xx.xx.xx

where xx.xx.xx.xx is your IP address.

You’ll get a success or failure type message.

In Windows XP, click on Start, Run, and type cmd in the box to get to the command line
