  • Hey all, I have been searching throughout the forums looking for a solution and found bits and pieces that I believe make what I want at least somewhat possible. Basically what I need is:

    1 – A single database for use by wordpress
    2 – Many domains on this single database (will be sub-domains… more specifically profile pages for employees)
    3 – Shared Themes + Plugins (if possible)
    4 – NOT SHARING pages and posts
    5 – unique logins to each wordpress page

    Basically what I am doing is creating profile pages for employees in a company and creating a new database for each employee would get very burdensome. They will each get their own sub-domain on the site though.

    I can sacrifice the shared themes if I have to but didn’t know if this was possible.

    (PS: Assume I know very little about wordpress… because beyond setting up single installs in the past I don’t know much)

    Up until point 5, you had ‘Multisite’ described to a T.

    What do you mean by unique logins to each wordpress page?



    Hey Sorry I didn’t see you responded till just recently. Thank you for your post. I basically just wanted unique users for each subdomain. This should be pretty straight forward though. I’ll do some more reading up on ‘multisite’ in the meantime.

    If I understand this right, you want to get specific users for each site. Is it? Of course, you can. You might have a common user for generating sites (a main global admin), and then create specific users within each site.

    Have users admins of their own subdomain is the default multisite action.

    Works the same as if you were running wordpress.COM.
