• this was a good plugin. recently still thought about buying a pro license to get things don on sites with no serverside backup solution. those days are gone!
the 5.x versions drives me nuts.
errors, errors where backups worked like a charm before. progress bar always stops somewhere at 60 or 65% – thats it. on every site i tested it! intense research brings up that some backups seem to go through completely nevertheless. but you cant see that nowhere within the system (and still some backups wont be complete…).
where are my previous backup jobs? somewhere hidden in hidden menue. not that great.
listings show no real status, such as how big is the backup etc. what the heck is going on.
no way to create a new custom backup for both database and content at once.

i wonder who was thinking what to screw things up that way. if anybody was thinking something.
this is an excellent example of modern programming attitude thats just bull*ܧ%.
will keep 4.X version on some sites until switching to another plugin.

sorry and goodbye. thats crazy. beware of this ‘improved’ peace of software.

    Hi @dasigna ,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts — we understand your disappointment, and we’re sorry the recent changes disrupted your experience.

BackWPup 5.x introduced a major redesign aimed at long-term flexibility and easier onboarding, but we recognize it also brought some growing pains. Since then, we’ve been steadily restoring and improving functionality with updates like 5.1 and 5.2 — including the return of multiple backup jobs, custom scheduling, ZIP support, and the ability to run jobs manually with your preferred storage.

Some of what you’re facing (like progress indicators and visibility) is already being reviewed for refinement. The ability to run combined backups (files + DB) as a single scheduled job is also planned for a future version.

If you’re still open to it, we’d be happy to help check why the progress stalls or clarify the results — sometimes a backup finishes even when the UI doesn’t show 100%.

We appreciate your years of trust and hope the latest versions get closer to what you expect.
