    Hey community,

Question: May I use a single WP installation for multiple blogs?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi jocnjr.

    Yes and no… 🙂

I mean, you can have multiple bloggers on a single installation.

Then, you can use one category for each bloggers and category child for each of them.

You can also customise the layout of each category, with different headers, footers and sidebars.

You can also customise the look of the single posts, but you’ll have to use a lot of conditional tags (i.e. : if this post is in the category “Paul”, then display : “xyz”)…

But, to do so, each bloogers will have to check their own category when they write posts…

Each blogger will have access to the same control panel, as long as they are “authors”, they will be allowed to modify only the post they wrote.

Doing so will be a lot of job, but it’s always possible…

You can look for WordPressMU, wich is specially design for multiple individual blogs… I never tried it.

Or, you can use multiple wordpress installation, even in the same database, and use RSS feeds to display posts from blog A to blog B…

Many thanxs for your words SimonJ.

    I’ll try WPMU then.

    All the best,
