• Hi, I have my wordpress site on my own domain (Domain A) hosted by Fasthosts. The wordpress site is named after a second preferred domain name (Domain B) which I also own.

So I publish and promote the site as Domain B and it successfully forwards to Domain A and the Domain B URL displays correctly as Domain B.

My problem is, whenever I use a share button to share my posts onto Facebook/Twitter etc, the link shows as Domain A.

Clear as mud? Can anyone help please?

  • SplashMan,

It sounds as if you have a parked domain (Domain B). Since the WordPress website is actually structured with the Site URL and Home of Domain A, you may not be able to do this.

Have you ever thought about doing a domain swap and making domain B function as the primary? Then all your links to your posts would work.

Let me know if you find a solution.

    Hey SplashMan,

There might be a workaround for it. Depending on the plugin you might be able to code a conditional “if” statement to check the post. That way if the plugin goes to post the URL it would check the Domain and adjust the site URL based on the domain name.

    Just an idea…

    Hi Tim,

Interesting as the if statement sounded I contacted fasthost and swapped the domains round as per your first suggestion.

    Appreciate your time, thanks.
