    Hello,

I am a new user. First off, congrats on the baby! Second, thank you so much for the plugin!

I had the plugin working pretty well on my site, and then I turned on my CDN which is through stackoways via my cloud ways account. I copied the CDN path I got from cloud ways into the “serve fonts from CDN” option not he advanced options and then updated. Then I redownloaded and recreated the stylesheet as instructed and updated again. I do have “auto-remove” selected as well. But, now when I look on GTMetrix, the fonts are loading much slower than without the CDN. It looks to me like they are having an issue. It’s probably something on my end but I could use some advice. Thank you so much in advance!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi!

On the first run, a CDN has to pull the files into it’s network first.

So, the first run (per location) is always slower. Subsequent requests should be faster, though.

Did you run a second test from the same location?

Yes, I’ve run it about 6 times now.

Ok, I checked out your site, and the fonts loading slow isn’t the problem. Your server appears to not be able to handle concurrent requests well, i.e. something is slowing it down or your server is overloaded. Just checkout this image. All the requests with a turtle icon next to it are slow. As you can see, it’s not just fonts.

Thank you for looking into it. I think I was actually in the process of moving from stackpath to Cloudflare when you tested so not sure if that had an impact. Cloudflare seems to be working better.

But the main question I have now is that when I look at the waterfall I see a bunch of fonts still being loaded from google. The interesting part is that they do not have weights listed. Have you ever seen this before? I’m trying to eliminate them but not sure how best to approach it. Do you have any insights? Thank you in advance!!

    Hi Matthew,

I’m sorry I never got back to you about your questions.

When a font does not have any weights listed after it in the Google Fonts request, that means it’ll load ALL available variants in all available subsets, i.e. BLOAT.

Anyway, I see you’ve upgraded to Pro (and I’ve just sent you an email ;)), so you could eliminate them using the Font Manager inside the Optimize Fonts tab, by selecting ‘do not load’ next to each font style/weight.
